Monday Morning Steelers Recap

  • Ike Taylor had a very nice bounce back game. After giving up the tying touchdown and a number of penalties last week Ike shut down one of the best wide outs in the league in AJ Green. Green had one catch for 8 yards. It was a TD catch but Ike had great coverage he was just beat by a perfect throw.

  • The Steelers D really responded well after going down 14-3. Casey Hampton and Ziggy Hood who looked over matched early on rebounded to play a solid second half. It did not hurt that the Bengals center had to leave the game.

  • The Steelers running game sealed the victory by pounding the ball in the final few minutes. It was nice to see the Steelers play keep away and control the ball.

  • The penalties on the kick and punt returns are becoming a major problem. The Steelers probable lost over 100 yards in return yardage due to penalties.

  • The Offensive line gave Ben pretty good protection all night and really blocked well in the run game. Jonathan Dwyer ran the ball very effectively up the middle.

  • It was nice to see the return of a trick play as Antonio Brown threw a perfect strike to RB Baron Batch. The only problem is Batch dropped the ball. Batch stated after the game he lost the ball in the lights.

  • Mike Wallace struggled catching the ball all night. He had two dropped passes and two more that could have counted as drops. The final one was ruled a catch on the field and upheld by video. Had it been ruled no catch video would not have over turned it.
