PITT Football Thoughts
Pitt LB Dan Mason is out for the year with a lacerated liver. The injury occurred on a fourth down tackle in which Mason showed some closing speed that was reminiscent of pre-injury Mason. He was playing very well. Pitt also lost LB Manny Williams and offensive lineman Ryan Schlieper for the year.
Paul Chryst may have gotten off to a rocky start in his coaching career but what he has been able to get out of senior quarterback Tino Sunseri is remarkable. Sunseri has looked calm and under control leading the Pitt offense. He has been accurate and smart with the ball.
Ray Graham looks like he is all the way back from his knee injury. He had several jump cut moves against Temple and seemed to really trust his knee and run with passion.
Devin Street has begin to emerge as a all Big East receiver. He has always had the physical tools but he know seems to have the route running and fundamentals down.
Aaron Donald who looked a bit lost early in the season has been he usually disruptive self the past few weeks. Tyrone Ezell has also played much better as the season has gone on.
Layfette Pitts and K'Waun Williams have been outstanding playing corner this year. Both are all Big East caliber players.
Pitt has a chance against ND this weekend. ND is coming off of an emotional win against Oklahoma and it would be easy to take the Panthers a bit lightly. ND's offense is not gonna put up a ton of points but Pitt's offense could struggle against what is the best defense outside of Alabama. I think the game will be close early but ND wins 23-13.
